Who is Brenda?

Brenda Slomka is a proud Kingstonian, passionate citizen and proven leader.

Brenda is the Manager of Residence Life at St. Lawrence College where she oversees the health and well-being of over 600 students and has also taught business communications there.

She will soon have completed her Master's in Public Administration from Queen's University and has already completed a M.A. in Leadership and Business at Trinity Western and earned an Honours degree in Speech Communication from the University of Waterloo.

Brenda is engaged in our community. She is a member of the steering committee of the Poverty Reduction Initiative and co-chairs the Community Support for Education arm of the initiative; is a member of the Kingston Frontenac Anti-Violence Coordinating Committee, and is on the Board of Directors of the Kingston Youth Shelter. Brenda held a term on the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee; and she has volunteered in Kingston with the Youth Diversion Program, Bethel Church, Ban Righ Centre and other organizations.

Brenda was elected President Federation of Students at the University of Waterloo and served with (now) Governor General David Johnson on the University's Senate and Board of Governors. She sat on the Town and Gown committee for the City of Waterloo and has championed honest and respectful dialogue between post-secondary students, municipal governments, and residents in cities across the country.

Committed to being non-partisan, Brenda believes that politics is most effective when it is cooperative, mindful of the most vulnerable, and fiscally responsible.

In all her positions Brenda is a good steward of resources. She has presided over multi-million dollar budgets and knows how to balance the books, but not at the expense of social and environmental vitality.

Brenda Slomka is caring, creative and courageous, and your choice to be Kingston's next Mayor. On October 27, vote for leadership to inspire. Vote Brenda Slomka.
